A community choir of Coronation Street superfans lit up the iconic cobbles with a heartwarming festive performance of a special Corrie Christmas Carol.
Forty members of Rock Choir groups from across the North West came together for an unforgettable day at the Coronation Street Experience, celebrating their love for Britain’s most loved soap.
Guests visiting on Saturday 14th December were enjoying a tour of the famous set when they were surprised with a performance of an original carol penned by the choir’s members.
The lively tribute recounted some of the most memorable Christmas moments in the show’s history, from Hilda Ogden’s tearful farewell to dramatic family revelations in the Webster household.
Check out the very special lyrics and watch the performance here:
Chorus
We wish you a Corrie Christmas,
We wish you a Corrie Christmas,
We wish you a Corrie Christmas,
The magic starts here!
Verses
The past comes to life
Through joy, love and strife
Come join in our Corrie Christmas
We’ll guide you, no fear!
The rovers just here
Roy’s rolls cafe there
Come walk with Corrie’s legends
On the cobbles right here
Stand right where our Gail
Learnt of Richard’s betrayal
At Christmas so chilling
Had us shaking with fear
Our Hilda’s goodbye
Brought a tear to our eye
Strike a pose and remember
A Christmas so dear
We felt Sally’s pain
When Kevin lied again
We’ll guide you through Christmas
Tales from every year
Take selfies on set
We’ll never forget
Our Kylie’s last Christmas
With David so near
But the event was more than just a musical performance – it was a heartfelt celebration of the fans’ connections to the show and the joy of gathering at the Coronation Street Experience during the festive season.
Superfans share their stories
Fiona Cooke, one of the choir members who performed alongside her husband Milo, reflected on the significance of the day: “Corrie has been a part of our lives forever. Our mums used to watch the show when we were children, and we took our children to visit the set when they were young. It brings back so many memories.
“I’ve been performing with Rock Choir for six years but performing at Corrie has been the best yet. The Corrie Christmas Carol was hilarious and the tour visitors seemed very appreciative!”
Performing on the cobbles was a special experience for the entire choir, many of whom are lifelong fans of Coronation Street.
Helen Ijichi: “I’m such a big fan. I love the characters, storylines, and how they touch our everyday lives. It was a real honour to be picked to take part. I visited with my son for a tour a long time ago, but to revisit to be part of the magic and perform on the iconic set was truly special.”
Sue Hopper: “It’s so exciting to have been a part of it. It was so joyful as it is at every Rock Choir event, and walking in the footsteps of so many famous characters made it such a unique experience.”
Lucy Tomlinson: “I was watching Corrie on the sofa when the invite came through. I’ve watched the show for 30 years and had always wanted to visit, but never had, so for my first time to be performing on the set is a dream come true.”
